Hana Market
About This Spot
Stepping into Hana Market feels a bit like entering a cherished neighborhood secret—a modest grocery tucked into the heart of Honolulu’s McCully district, where the pace slows down just enough to savor moments that are purely local. There’s an unfiltered warmth here, from the moment you arrive and seek out a parking spot, to the friendly greetings you exchange with the familiar faces behind the counter. It’s not the kind of place that rushes you along, but one that invites you to linger for a little while, soaking in the everyday rhythm of island life.
Hana Market is more than a grocery store; it’s a comforting slice of home that draws people craving nourishing, honest meals made with care and a touch of aloha. Here, there’s a humility to the surroundings—a small, functional kitchen tucked inside the convenience of a neighborhood store—yet a generosity in the food that quietly speaks volumes. Plates are crafted to satisfy, with portions that respect both hunger and budget, inviting you to enjoy a simple breakfast or a plate lunch bursting with familiar flavors cherished by locals.
The atmosphere is unpretentious and quietly vibrant, touched by the presence of the family who has tended to this spot for more than a decade. There’s a genuine connection between cook and customer that transforms a quick meal into a shared experience. Whether you’re grabbing a satisfying bite before starting the day or returning for a midday break, you’ll find yourself welcomed with an ease that feels like stepping into a friend’s kitchen.
In a bustling cityscape often crowded with impersonal chains, Hana Market offers a rare, grounded refuge where each plate carries the imprint of care—from the kind that comes with recipes passed down and perfected in a small kitchen, to the smiles and stories exchanged over the counter. It’s a humble reminder of why food, at its best, nourishes not just the body but a sense of belonging.

I bought their breakfast special, 2 slices of spam & 2 pieces of portuguese sausage & 2 scoops of rice & 2 eggs for $6.99 and "WOW!", it was tasty and it was good amount. Moreover, the lady was very friendly so everything turned out better. This place is a gem.

They have the most amazing kalbi! This is one of the last precious "mom and pop shops" in Hawaii. Literally a mom and pop cooking local Korean plate lunch in a small kitchen hidden in a convenience store. Please come and patronize this store! I think this may be the best kalbi I've ever had. They have a nice big breakfast for under $7. It isn't a dine in restaurant. Everything is made fresh when you order. This is a hidden gem! Don't let it go out of business, keep Hawaii local!

This place has been one of my favorite “To Go” places for breakfast. The breakfast was very affordable, especially for Honolulu. My plate was $6.59 as advertised. My plate included some of the best white rice, 2 eggs, and like 4 or 5 slices of fried spam. Hot sauce was also available to use. It tasted like comfort. I’m coming back. The lady running the store was a great worker and super kind. She runs a great shop!

This little convenience store is awesome. Great food. My wife really loved the Kalbi mixed plate and kimchi fried rice. I’m just now finding out about this place. Will be coming back for more.
